JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Cost Control Engineer is responsible for monitoring, controlling, and reporting project costs to ensure projects are delivered within approved budgets. The role provides accurate cost analysis, forecasting, and financial reporting to support project decision-making while ensuring compliance with company cost control procedures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Monitor project budgets, commitments, expenditures, and overall cost performance.

Prepare cost reports, forecasts, and variance analyses.

Track project progress against approved budgets and schedules.

Review contractor invoices, claims, and change orders for cost accuracy.

Assist in preparing project budgets, cost estimates, and Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS).

Identify cost risks and opportunities for cost optimisation.

Maintain accurate cost records and reporting documentation.

Coordinate with project, engineering, procurement, finance, and construction teams.

Ensure compliance with company cost control policies and project requirements.

 

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & JOB-SPECIFIC SKILLS

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Finance, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline.

3–7 years of experience in cost control or project controls, preferably within Oil & Gas or EPC projects.

Strong knowledge of cost estimating, budgeting, forecasting, Earned Value Management (EVM), Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS), contract cost control, and change management.

Proficient in cost reporting, financial analysis, risk identification, and project cost monitoring.

Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Accuracy and timeliness of cost reports and forecasts.

Budget adherence and cost variance control.

Timely verification of invoices and change orders.

Identification of cost-saving opportunities and financial risks.

Compliance with cost control procedures and reporting standards.

Quality and reliability of cost information provided to project management.
